LAB SCIENCE -
Recruiting top faculty and creating endowed chairs

1. Create endowed chairs to attract, and keep, top level scientists. The goal is to raise $2.0 million dollars per endowed chair. Chairs would include top investigators and scientists with specific expertise and interest. These chairs will be an integral recruiting tool for top-level and mid-level scientists.

2. Recruit Top- and Mid-level faculty by creating funding streams to give rise to and strengthen multi-disciplinary teams of investigators that bring expertise in the fields of biochemistry, cell biology, pharmacology and immunology. This would include training fellowships to support salaries, stipends and tuition fees for postdoctoral fellows and graduate students ($30K-$60K for each). As the programs grow, they can attract more qualified trainees, more visibility, more interest in cancer research and more funding. The new funding would build investigational and research teams that will help understand the molecular mechanisms by which cancer develops and introduce strategies to prevent the onset of cancer.
