If you would like to support cancer treatment and research but are concerned about giving assets intended for heirs such as grandchildren, you can do both. You can transfer an asset such as appreciated property to AMC/UCCC, and with the money received from your new, guaranteed income, you can pay for an insurance policy equal to, or more valuable than, the original asset. Upon your death, AMC/UCCC receives the principal and the heir receives the insurance proceeds - tax-free.
