Mission

"The mission of the AMC Cancer Research Center, a one-hundred year old national organization, is to provide charitable funding for the best cancer treatment, research, patient education and outreach through the University of Colorado Cancer Center and national outreach programs."

Why we need philanthropic support

Federal funding for cancer research is at a 20-year low, with less than 10% of submitted grants being funded on an annual basis. The National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health have narrowed their funding to programs that are well established, and are decreasing their support of innovative ventures that have promising potential. In addition, the State of Colorado currently provides limited funding for research at the University of Colorado. As a result, many progressive scientists and programs have been hindered in their efforts to aggressively pursue a cure for cancer.

The AMC Cancer Research Center is embarking on an aggressive five year plan to obtain philanthropic funding for our top priorities. A new mission and vision have been drafted, and business and development strategies are becoming solidified. We are recruiting a Board of Directors, with top representation from the entire country, and have adopted an aggressive, measured plan to make the UCCC one of the top ten comprehensive cancer centers in the country. Donors are the key to the success of this plan.
