UCCC History

Groundbreaking achievement is the best way to describe the last two decades of cancer research, treatment, prevention and education. Throughout its nearly 20-year history, the University of Colorado Cancer Center (UCCC) has been at the forefront of that achievement.

As the region's only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, UCCC performs groundbreaking research, directs innovative programs and provides exceptional patient care.

The internationally respected cancer researchers and specialists at UCCC are dedicated to treating and researching nearly every form of cancer, including lung and chest, urologic, colorectal and other gastrointestinal cancers, breast, brain, skin, gynecological, head and neck, cancers of the blood, pediatric, endocrine and rare cancers as well.

UCCC is part of a world-class biomedical campus, thanks to the new location in the Anschutz Cancer Pavilion and Research Towers at Fitzsimons. To cancer patients and their families, that means they receive the absolute best care in the absolute best facility.

The researchers and specialists know how to use technology before anyone else because they are pioneering it.

UCCC is conducting groundbreaking research - research that has a direct impact on the care provided to cancer patients each day. Thanks to the work done at UCCC, those who are afflicted with cancer have a better chance than ever of surviving. Not only are the laboratory researchers working on new discoveries every day, but with the extensive clinical trials program, patients at UCCC have the option of trying the newest therapies.

UCCC is helping to prevent cancer altogether, as home to some of the country's most advanced programs designed to detect and prevent cancer.

Training tomorrow's cancer researchers, physicians and nurses through our extensive educational programs, UCCC continues to strive to be at the forefront of cancer research.

UCCC relies on the unwavering support of the community through AMC to continue the groundbreaking efforts. Thanks to the generosity of its many donors, UCCC is able to work diligently toward the goal of eliminating cancer through basic science and clinical research, patient care, education and prevention/early detection.
